The GCB is located within the very heart of the hotel and overlooks the moat and the famous award winning gardens.

During the warmer months you can enjoy true al fresco dining while seated outside at a table either under the dappled shade of the towering elm trees or on the sunny terrace where you can enjoy the perfume and visual splendor of the rose gardens.

Banks Peninsula and Akaroa with Harbour Cruise

Join a relaxing tour of Banks Peninsula and the old French whaling colony of Akaroa. Travel over the Port Hills facing Christchurch, via the Sign of the Takahe and the Kiwi, Governors Bay, and Gebbies Pass.

Past Lake Ellesmere, stop at the Hill Top to admire beautiful Akaroa Harbour. A tasting of freshly-made cheese at Barry’s Bay factory will certainly get the taste buds going. Shortly after, take a two hour Eco cruise on the Akaroa Harbour Cat where you will see penguins, dolphins, seals, and a salmon farm, or simply enjoy the village walkabout-style.

Christchurch Sightseeing Tour

The Christchurch Sights morning tour is the perfect way to see first hand why Christchurch is known as the 'Garden City' and to uncover its rich history.

You'll visit Mona Vale, a homestead surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, showcasing a collection of indigenous plants.

Next travel out to the boutique seaside village of Sumner, view the stunning landscape of Christchurch from the Port Hills, and visit the Lyttelton Port. Then move on to Riccarton House & Bush. Built in 1856 Riccarton House is the homestead of the pioneering Deans family, take a stroll through the heart of an ancient native forest situated right in the heart of Christchurch and visit the oldest building on the Canterbury plains, Deans Cottage (10-15 minute stop)

Optional Extra: Hagglund Ride* - an adventure ride on an all-terrain amphibian Antarctic vehicle can be added to the tour on request.
