Hillside Brasserie

The shared lobby area of the Scenic Suites Queenstown and Heartland Hotel is also home to the Hillside Brasserie and Lobby Bar.  These are perfect places to unwind after a long-day of site-seeing, adventure or being on the slopes.

The Hillside Brasserie is open for buffet breakfast from 6am until 9.30am Monday to Friday and 6am until 10am during the weekend. It is open for a la carte dinner from 6pm until 9pm every day.

The Lobby Bar is open from 5pm until late and is a perfect spot for unwinding at the end of the day.

The Hillside Brasserie celebrates the very best of New Zealand cuisine with some of the local specialties on the dinner menu including Southland roast lamb with a Central Otago wild thyme jus; Otago beef and seasonal Central Otago fruits in a taste bud cleansing sorbet.

Skyline Restaurant

By night you can enjoy dinner at Queenstown's most spectacular location.

The Skyline Restaurant serves up a mouthwatering Taste of New Zealand buffet of legendary proportions every night of the year.

Feast on South Island salmon, seafoods, salads, roast meats and delicious desserts - and feast your eyes on the most spectacular scenery in the country. Tiered seating guarantees stunning views from every table!

Day excursion to Fiordland National Park with Cruise on Milford Sound

The journey to Milford from Te Anau and Queenstown is magnificent.

The Milford Road (between Te Anau and Milford) is one of the finest alpine drives in the world. The scenery is exceptional, ranging from broad grassy flats, dense rainforest, and towering mountains through to glacial lakes and alpine herb fields. No other road in Fiordland offers such a diverse glimpse into New Zealand’s alpine zone.

The luxury coaches have been purpose built for travelling the Milford Road, incorporating the latest technology for comfort and safety. The seats are tiered and angled towards the windows to maximise your views, and the expansive glass roof provides breathtaking sights of the snow-capped peaks.

The drivers have been selected for their experience and knowledge, and our schedule includes plenty of time for short nature walks and photo opportunities along the way.

Enjoy Milford Sound’s dramatic scenery from the comfort of a spacious modern vessel.

Scenic Cruise vessels have purpose-built observation lounges and large decks, so you can be sure you’ll get some great viewing opportunities. Keep a look out for wildlife such as seals basking on the rocks.

A wide range of dining options are available on board so treat yourself to a delicious lunch while watching the scenery drift past.

During the cruise, the friendly crew provide commentaries in several languages and point out highlights such as Mitre Peak and the Pembroke Glacier.

Cruise on Lake Wakatipu with TSS Earnslaw (coal fired vintage steamship) followed by Farm visit and BBQ at Walter Peak’s High Country Farm

Cruising on the “Lady of the Lake” is like stepping back in time.

Below deck, the steam engines hiss and thud as the stokers shovel coal into the glowing fireboxes. In the wheelhouse upstairs, the skipper rings through directions to the engine room using the traditional telegraph bells - the same method used on board a century ago.

A 1½ hour cruise on the TSS Earnslaw showcases some of Lake Wakatipu’s most beautiful alpine scenery and allows plenty of time to explore the decks and bridge. Visit the engine room, view the collection of historical photos in the Fo’c’sle gallery or join a sing-along with the onboard pianist.

The vessel has a licensed café onboard selling a selection of café-style food as well as beer, wine and spirits.

Sit back on the lakeside terrace and savour the enticing aromas as the chef cooks a selection of food on the barbecue. Fresh salads and crusty bread perfectly complement the food sizzling on the grill.

Meat lovers will delight in the locally sourced grilled fish, juicy beef steaks, succulent pork, lamb chops, pork spare ribs and chicken drumsticks. And vegetarians are well catered for with an enticing selection of seasonal salads, roast vegetables and a vegetarian dish of the day.

After lunch, there is plenty of time to view the farm animals, join a walking tour of the farmyard and explore the extensive lakeside gardens.
