There are several things that sell the Gold Coast as a family holiday destination, but the major reasons are the warm climate, the wonderful beaches and the five major theme parks. These are Sea World, Dreamworld, Warner Brothers Movie World, Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World, and WhiteWater World. They are all located within 20 minutes drive of the Gold Coast and public transport to them is plentiful and cheap.
For the teenagers and big kids, they all have plenty of high thrill rides, and the littlies are not forgotten, with plenty of rides and activities for them. However, there is more to these parks than the rides. Sea World, Dreamworld and Warner Brothers Movie World have plenty of spectacular shows, animal attractions and wandering performers so that you can be entertained all day without having to set foot anywhere near a roller-coaster.
Sea World and Dreamworld are also world famous for their marine and animal displays. For an extra fee you can interact with the dolphins and sharks at Sea World, or with the Tigers and other big cats at Dreamworld.
Sea World attractions include polar bears, seals and an action-filled Waterski Show while Dreamworld has an entertaining Riverboat Cruise, a koala and kangaroo sanctuary, and is also the home of the Big Brother reality TV house. At Warner Brothers Movie World everyone can be a star.
The two main Gold Coast water parks, Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World, and WhiteWater World, provide a number of high thrill and child-friendly water slides, so that a family of all ages can be entertained for several days. WhiteWater World is the most advanced water ride park on earth with the most extreme waterslides on the planet.
The parks offer multiple park super passes, or World passes, that offer a sizable discount if you are going to multiple parks.
Tickets for all the theme parks can be bought at the door, but most accommodation on the Gold Coast also offers packages with discount admission tickets, and can also organise door to door bus transfers.
So if you head to the Gold Coast pack the swimmers, the sun block, and be prepared for several days of high thrill entrainment at the Gold Coast Theme parks.
