Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast is more than a theme park. It is also a working movie studio with several sound stages and is where a number of films including House Of Wax, The Phantom and Scooby Doo were filmed, but who am I kidding, we want to know about the theme park!
Movie World has a number of roller-coasters, all of which have a movie connection. From the Lethal weapon roller-coaster, where your feet dangle out the bottom while the coaster does several loop-the-loops, twists and turns, or the Superman coaster, where you go from 0 to 100 kilometres in under 2 seconds. Add to that the Scooby Doo ride, one of the few indoor roller coasters in Australia, and their two Batman rides and the older/big kids looking for lots of thrills are taken care of.
Of course there are also a number of activities for the littlies. The “Warner Brothers Fun Zone” has a number of rides and other activities specificity aimed at smaller children. From the Road Runner roller-coaster, to the Marvin the Martian rocket ride, there are numerous rides to keep children amused.
And being Warner Brother Movie World, there is the daily street parade of the Warner Brothers Characters. Just be careful where you walk as you may just bump into any number of movie characters coming to life and doing a show along the main street area. Throughout the day, you'll have the opportunity to meet and have your photo taken with a variety of superstars including the big, green and loveable ogre, Shrek.
There are plenty of places to eat, and these are movie themed too, with names like Casablanca at Rick’s Café Americain, Dirty Harry Bar, Yosemite Sam’s Diner and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Candy Store. There are also international menu options.
Movie World also has themed retail outlets that offer a feast of shopping opportunities where you can buy a host of movie memorabilia from stores with names like Warner Bros. Boutique, Harry Potter Shop, Shrek Store, Lethal Weapon Store and Scooby-Doo Photo Store.
Movie World has multiple park super passes that offer a sizable discount if you are also going to Sea World and Wet and Wild parks. Tickets can be bought at the door, but most accommodation on the Gold Coast can also offer discount admission tickets. There are many Gold Coast packages that include admission to Movie World plus door to door transfers.
