The Valley View Lodge
Situated in the upper Kiewa Valley, overlooking Mount Bogong - Victoria’s highest peak, the Valley View Lodge is the ideal base from which to explore and take in the beautiful scenery, quaint historic towns and charming locals that this region boasts.

Mt Beauty was established in 1949 during construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme, the country's second largest; the township developed by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria to provide additional accommodation for the thousands of workers during construction.

Valley View Lodge in the upper Kiewa Valley, overlooks Mount Bogong - Victoria's highest peak. Located on an acre of landscaped grounds with large outdoor viewing deck and inviting pool for a relaxing swim, this family owned and operated business offers warmfriendly service. Spacious guest rooms with ensuite (all with double and single bed) offer tea and coffee making facilities, table & chairs, TV, ceiling fans, air-conditioning and central heating.
There’s a large lounge & dining area with a licenced bar and open fire for guests to relax with newly-made friends and enjoy panoramic views of the valley and mountains over a cup of tea, coffee or social drink. Tours are operated in a Mercedes-Benz Optimo, fitted with seat belts, making for a pleasant and safe travelling experience. Courtesy Albury Railway Station transfers are available, or free parking is provided for those who self-drive.
During the week, a highlight not to be missed is Lazy Harry - a unique Aussie bloke with a lively selection of authentic Australian songs & poems. Be entertained!

Yackandandah, Lavender Farm, Beechworth & Murray Breweries Tour (Monday) -
Travel to the early gold town of Yackandandah with it's majestic trees & historic buildings and view the town. Visit the Lavender Farm and learn all about growing and cultivation. A wide variety of Lavender products to sample and purchase. Take an informative sightseeing tour of Beechworth, Victoria's best preserved gold town. Visit Murray Breweries incorporating the Beechworth Carriage Museum before lunching at one of Beechworth's oldest hotels - where infamous Ned Kelly used to drink. Explore the various historic buildings, galleries and shops (be sure to sample the fare from the famous bakery), before returning home for afternoon tea andmaybe a stroll before dinner.
Bright, Red Stag Deer & Emu Farm, Tawonga Gap & Sullivan's Lookout Tour (Tuesday) -
Travel over Tawonga Gap & stop to take in the beautiful views. At Bright, stop for morning tea, before an interesting sightseeing tour of this popular town. Travel to the Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm where host Grace provides an informative talk about her farm, followed by lunch at the Red Stag Restaurant. After lunch, return to Bright and enjoy some free time to explore what is arguably Australia’s prettiest town. Stop at Sullivan's Lookout with it's breathtaking views and an opportunity to take spectacular photos if you like.High Country, Falls Creek Ski Resort, Cattleman's Hut, Bogong Village, Erindale Alpacas & Mt Beauty Tour (Wednesday) -
Journey into the mountainous Alpine National Park, a truly amazing spectacle! Visit the Falls Creek ski resort for a tour and talk on this popular winter retreat. See historic Wallace's Hut, built by pioneering cattlemen over 100 years ago (weather permitting). Onwards to Bogong village for a comfort stop and then an enjoyable surprise lunch!At Erindale Alpacas, interact with the animals, handle a fleece described by the Incas as 'The Fibre of the Gods' and then browse through Bev's gift shop with Alpaca wool garments and many other interesting craft items. Visit the pretty Alpine Village of Mount Beauty, before heading home to ValleyView Lodge for afternoon tea.
Lake Hume, Bonegilla, The Army Museum, Harvey's Trout Farm & Fishing Tour (Thursday) -
Travel along the Kiewa Valley, with morning tea at Lake Hume. Drive past the historic Bonegilla Migrant Centre, before visiting the Army Museum at Bandiana - an impressive collection of army memorabilia providing an informative insight into our Army. Harvey's Fish and Fun Park serves an enjoyable lunch in their relaxed function centre. Then the fun begins as the owner Darren gives an informative tour of the hatchery and fish breeding ponds. You have the opportunity to catch your evening meal - delicious rainbow trout, cooked that night by your host, Lester.Return to Valley View Lodge for the Dinner Party, with lots of fun and laughter to enjoy and celebrate newly made friends and the good times shared together this week.

Most guests on this package catch the train to Albury from Sydney or Melbourne. For those coming from further afield but not self-driving
... A lot of guests use their annual free rail pass to get to Albury from either Melbourne or Sydney and then take advantage of the free return transfers from Albury to Valley View Lodge. If you are coming from further afield, why not spend a night in Sydney or Melbourne before boarding the train to Albury? The train from Sydney departs around 7.45am, while the train from Melbourne departs at 9.15am.Both properties shown are popular venues from our other Holiday Special Packages.
